Sequence is built around a simple principle:
The person keeps the private narrative. The organization gets the signal it needs.
That boundary matters. People need room to answer honestly. Organizations need useful information about execution without turning personal reflection into surveillance.
Your responses are treated as confidential
Sequence may ask participants to reflect on what is affecting their ability to begin or follow through on important work.
Those responses may include personal explanations, observations, or other information that is useful to the participant and to the Sequence process. We treat that material as confidential and limit access according to role and legitimate need.
An organization sponsoring access to Sequence does not automatically receive a participant’s private narrative simply because it is paying for or administering the program.
What an organization may see
Depending on the program and the applicable organizational agreement, Sequence may provide information such as:
- participation or program-status information;
- appropriate execution signals needed for the stated program purpose; and
- aggregate patterns intended to help an organization understand how work is functioning across a group.
Sequence is not designed to provide managers with a participant’s private journal.
We do not ordinarily disclose free-text reflections, personal explanations, sensitive narrative, or other individual-level material that is not necessary for the agreed organizational purpose.
Aggregate reporting is intended to describe group-level patterns, not expose individual participants. Where a group is too small to support an appropriate confidentiality boundary, reporting may be limited, combined, or withheld.
Confidentiality has limits
No online service can promise absolute confidentiality.
Information may be accessed, processed, preserved, or disclosed when reasonably necessary to:
- operate and support the Sequence service;
- maintain security and investigate suspected misuse or abuse;
- comply with applicable law, legal process, or enforceable legal obligations;
- protect Sequence, its users, or others from security threats or unlawful activity; or
- use service providers that perform necessary functions on Sequence’s behalf.
Our Privacy Policy explains our data practices in greater detail, including how information may be collected, used, retained, processed, and disclosed.
How Sequence uses participant information
Sequence is designed to measure and improve execution—not to create hidden judgments about people.
Confidential participant information is not intended to be used to secretly characterize someone’s personality, diagnose a medical or psychological condition, or provide managers with private behavioral narratives.
Sequence may generate defined measurements, classifications, or execution signals as part of its methodology. Those outputs are tools for the purposes described in the program. They do not replace appropriate human judgment or professional decision-making.
Organizations using Sequence are expected to use participation data for the stated purpose of the program, not for covert monitoring, disciplinary profiling, or undisclosed evaluation of individual employees.
Research
Sequence may conduct research to evaluate and improve its methods.
When information is collected or used as part of a research study, participation is governed by the applicable research protocol and participant consent.
Research information may be coded, pseudonymized, de-identified, or aggregated where appropriate to the study and its privacy protections. Research use does not override the confidentiality commitments, consent requirements, or other protections applicable to that study.
How information is handled
Sequence uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we maintain.
Access is limited according to role and legitimate need. Service providers may process information only where necessary to provide, secure, maintain, or support the service or otherwise as described in our Privacy Policy and applicable agreements.
Data retention, deletion practices, service providers and subprocessors, and other detailed data-handling terms are governed by the Privacy Policy and any applicable participant or organizational agreements.
Security concerns and incidents are handled under established review and response procedures.

This page explains the confidentiality and professional principles behind Sequence. It is intended to be clear and understandable, not to replace the agreements that govern particular uses of the service.
